Joy Garnett has worked with images of ‘techno-military sublime’ since the late 1990s. The ‘Predator’ series uses target or grid-like compositions of night vision and heat-seeking images she gathers as source material. Based on screen-grabs from declassified or leaked US military videos of secret operations, the Predator series takes technical images of machine vision and translates them as painterly objects.
